Baby Emery - A Lifestyle Session at One Month Old

I wanted to share what a lifestyle newborn session looks like with all of you. These were taken at a studio I rent in Pendleton, Indiana which has the most gorgeous natural light. We used that natural light, the neutral color tones, and this beautiful new little family to create timeless images they’ll cherish forever.

I would not consider myself a newborn photographer at all, however I just love the lifestyle trend. If I am going to photograph babies, this is definitely the way I’d like to do it. I know it’s not for everyone, some prefer the perfectly posed and styled sleeping baby photos (and that is fine!). First of all, it’s always so hard to get babies to sleep when you want them to for pictures. Every new parent dreams of those adorable naked baby photos you see, however you have to work hard and be very good at your job to get images like those. Babies get cold easy, they get hungry, they get frustrated with changing outfits and being moved around sometimes. So for me, the lifestyle images give a better picture of what having your new baby is like. I love incorporating new parents, siblings, pets, and even props that mean something to you.

Another thing about my sessions, I over edit. Not just with newborn and family sessions, but all sessions. I have a hard time narrowing down what I’d like to edit because these are memories you’ll never get back. I like to give lots of variations and even bloopers that the family can look back on years from now. So all the images in these blog posts are images that my client gets to keep forever!
