Taylor & Shelby - a playful engagement session at Carmel City Center

When it comes to immortalizing the essence of love, few settings are as romantic as the picturesque town of Carmel, Indiana. Known for its charm and well-kept surroundings, Carmel Indiana offers couples the perfect backdrop to showcase their relationship in a timeless manner. Recently, I had the pleasure of shooting with my couple. Shelby and Taylor, at the Carmel City Center, and the results were nothing short of magical.

One of the key elements that brought the photos to life was the couple's willingness to embrace creative and candid poses. They insisted that they were awkward in front of the camera, as do many couples, but the photos we got will certainly convince you otherwise. Instead of only stiff and formal shots, I encouraged natural interactions that truly reflected the love and connection between them. From playful embraces to shared laughter, each moment captured was a true reflection of their relationship. They also let me experience with posing and were patient in figuring out what works and what doesn’t. I always appreciate a couple that lets me step outside the box with creativity.

Despite the cloudy weather we had previously during the day, we were greeted with a stunning golden hour as the clouds cleared up just enough for them. In early April in the Midwest, it’s usually super windy as well, but luckily it was a very calm evening, despite being a tad chilly.

Shelby had shown me inspiration pictures she had picked out and I always appreciate when my clients do this. This really gives me a visual of how they’d like their session to go and what poses they are a fan of. She also requested some romantic black and white images, which had me excited to play around with… and let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint!

So go ahead and take a peek!

Can’t wait to photograph their wedding this summer!
